MY FIRST YEAR AT AUBURN!!

Well, this collage is a semi-chronological compilation of my Freshman year at Auburn. It took me about an hour to limit it down to these 37 photos from the 3,301 photos my camera roll has of Auburn from the past year. Even these photos alone don't give justice to how fantastic this whole year was, so I'll try to give a little summary of each period below.

August

August gave me my first true Auburn memories. Before actually becoming a student I had been to Auburn a handful of times, as I am from Columbus, Georgia, which is only an hour away (technically a 0 minute drive if you count the time change on the way there). After arriving on July 30th (close enough to August) I couldn't say I was anything short of terrified. I was heading into school early to try out for marching band, and lucky for me this will become one of the best decisions I've ever made. Good ol' Matthews Hall 334 welcomed me quite kindly and I spent the rest of the month marching in the fantastic heat and making new friends as my first year as a college student was off to a roaring start.

September

This month got off to a fantastic start as the first weekend of it included both my birthday and the first football game! The weekend certainly didn't dissapoint as I had my first ever surpirse party for me and my brother and sister, Ethan and Victoria, which is a whole fun and chaotic story of its own! Then, off the next morning bright and early for my first Auburn football game in the AUMB and boy oh boy was that great. Hot of course, but what else would you expect? The rest of the month was filled with more football games, and more fun then I ever could imagine as I started to find my groove.

October

Another month off to a super start as for the first weekend of October the whole band traveled to New Orleans and LSU! I had never truly been booed before, and is it weird to say I kinda liked it? It was just so funny to me, and being there with some great friends I had made, made the weekend all the better. As fall truly started winding up and people were preparing for halloween, you know that could only mean one thing: time to put up the Christmas tree of course! So before the month of October was up I found a quite great tree at Walmart for only $30 and put it up in my room where it would stay for months basically.

November

I'm noticing a trend of really exciting weekends early in the month, as in early November I got to travel with the Auburn Swimming Club to the University of Florida for a swim meet! I also spent this month admiring my Chirstmas tree as I was bashed by several people for putting it up early. November also brought more cold weather, which never makes me happy, but all the money I spent on peppermint hot chocolates from Starbucks certainly did. Cold weather also brought the start of basketball season. I didn't know how addicted to it I would become, but I did attend every Aurburn home game over the season. (Looking back I have no idea how I got in to all of them) At the end of the month came the Iron Bowl. Vibes? Absolutely amazing. The actual game? Unspoken of, literally a forgotten memory. Who won? Who cares.

December

December brought finals season. yay. But also with finals came a super fun time in my history class where I got to be the Emperor of China and finished the class with the execution of 6 unlucky classmates (just in the game of course). Other classes, unfortunately, were not so fun and I actually had tests to study for. Lame. But then finals ended and it was break. Lucky for us the end of the month had one more exciting weekend as the AUMB went to the Birmingham Bowl (only the most distinguished of bowl games) and after the 4 quarters was over the Auburn football team left as the runner ups of the game! Second place? Not too bad. ;)

January

The Spring Semester started with a W as the eve before classes started Auburn took down *labama in basketball, a night to remember. Later in the month we were treated to another great game. Kentucky. After rising and rising in the polls AU was just out of reach of the number one spot, and everyone believed a win against Kentucky could put us on top, so naturally, the entire student population decided to camp out the night before the game for just a chance to get a glipse of the game. Victoria and I had planned to go, but even a good 18 hours before the game it seemed like no chance we could get in. The morning of the game Victoria and I went to take a peak at the chaos and realized the student entrance was still open, and the line had all vanished inside. We ended up walking right in and getting standing room, even after a full night's sleep in our warm beds! That afternoon was the most I had ever seen Toomer's Corner rolled, a beautiful sight. The rest of the month included more basketball, some gymnastics, and dinner parties.

February

Off to a bang with a sweep of *labama and a subsequent peppa pig battle at the birthday party of one of my best friends, while the rest of the month was filled by some more basketball and paciently waiting for spring to arrive. February was a month of cold and a month of slowly watching spring flowers emerge.

March

Spring had finally arrived and the weather began warming up and I'd never been happier. Auburn seems to have a totally different vibe in the warmer months that I absolutely love. Just seeing everything everywhere alive and well is such a great feeling. One of the first excitements of the month was Auburn basketball's winof the SEC regular season, and for all intents and purposes I believe this is when their season ended. The confetti made the two hour wait before the game worth it for sure. Then, when spring break finally came, (after waiting for literal months) I got to go to Pensacola, Florida and help build a house with Habitat for Humanity. I thought it would be kinda lame, but honestly it was so much fun and I got to meet lots of cool people from Auburn and UVA who was there with us! Also the beach was just a short drive so you know we had to go too :) Then I came back to Auburn and got to enjoy a new sporting season for baseball after a very underwhelming end of the basketball season (we also don't talk about it).

April

April seemed to sneak out of no where, and with it came my undying urge for summer. In this month I also became slightly obsessed with acai bowls so that was great for me, but not so much my dining dollars :/ I also officially became a member of KKY band fraternity which is super cool and fun. And finally, during finals week while everyone was stressing I was chilling as all I had was my precal final (my last ever math class) and I wasn't too worried about it, so I chilled at the rec pool (seriously my new favorite place) and had more acai bowls and just chilled.

Hmmmm....

So the past year has been absolutely crazy. If you had went back and told all the things that would happen to Garrett on his move in day I doubt he would have believed you. I have done so much this year and made so many new friends and had so much more fun than I ever would have imagined, and it is really all just getting started for me. There is so much more left to do and see and experience during college alone and I absolutely can not wait for it. So thank you, Freshman Year, and everyone who was a part of it for making it better than I ever would have imagined :))
